Naturally Dyed Linens, Cut & Sewn on Hardwood Hanger

Artist Statement:

Jeeyon 'G' Roslie, is a Korean American textile artist and natural dyer based in Santa Barbara, California.  Drawing inspiration from the profound beauty and equilibrium of the natural world, she meticulously hand-dyes flax linen using botanical plant extracts and earth mineral pigments to curate distinct palettes for each of her creations. G's artistic journey seamlessly blends the tranquility of Zen minimalism, the elegance of modernist abstraction, and the nostalgic warmth of the 1970s craft revival, all woven together with the threads of poetry and poetic living.

Her early introduction to sewing as a means of healing and closure revealed the transformative power of stitching—uniting separate pieces, mending wounds, and finding closure.  Nature and poetry emerged as her most profound mentors and sources of inspiration, offering a delicate equilibrium between solitude and a profound sense of belonging within the world. This journey, rooted in deep respect for nature and the imperative of harmonious coexistence, reached its zenith when she unearthed the enchantment of natural dyeing, where nature's hues wielded healing and transformative qualities. With a purposeful intent of stitching fragmented parts into a unified whole, she creates art as a medium for contemplation, reflection, connection—with herself and others—and ultimately, healing.
