"This medium allows me to embrace chaos and unpredictability, by tapping into my instincts I allow new structures and forms to emerge. The element of unpredictability is integral to my creative vision, which makes showing up to the work every day a new adventure."
Panda Landa is a multidisciplinary artist who is attracted to the art of arranging different elements into a formulated whole. In their newest show, now on view at Mojave Flea Yucca Valley, they use a mix of tradition quilting techniques and abstraction to create windows into familiar spaces.
"When my mind runs free it always goes back to secret passageways. special doors that open to the curious. these shapes and colors live inside me at all times and with the practice of improv piecing, I allowed them to be given a life outside of me, perhaps opening new secret doorways for you."
Their time spent in the desert has had a great impact on the work as well. From observed colors and slow processes, Panda Landa's work illustrates the ethos of the region.
